N12 House
N12 House is a two-storey weekend residence located in Asakura City, Japan. The house includes a built-in garage that presents the owner's car collection as an integral part of the design. Most of the volume is placed on the second floor, where a living room, a kitchen and a dining area form one open space. Large windows and a terrace balcony open the interior towards three directions and the surrounding views. Red cedar boards run from the interior ceiling to the sloping eaves of the terrace. Indirect lighting creates a warm and gentle atmosphere.
N12 House Residential by Masahiko Sato was recognized as an innovative representation of architectural design by the A' Design Awards. N12 House Residential was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in Architecture, Building and Structure Design in 2020. The A' Architecture, Building and Structure Design Award is an international, meritocratic, just and fair design award that celebrates outstanding design of skyscrapers, museums, residential buildings, commercial complexes, educational institutions, religious structures, infrastructure designs, landscaping projects and more.
