Venus
Venus is a drinking cup with a separate base, designed for home use. The set is made of two simple forms that support one another. The cup can be lifted from the base by hand. Because of the shape and the weight of the ceramic, the cup slides into the correct position when placed back on the base. The cup was 3D printed in a mix of ceramic and polymer, then fired in a kiln, sanded and polished. The base was 3D printed in a mix of wood and PLA, then sanded and stained. Additive manufacturing was chosen to form both parts without material waste.

Venus 3D Printed Cup received the Iron A' Design Award in Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design in 2020. The A' Bakeware, Tableware, Drinkware and Cookware Design Award is an international, juried, academic and meritocratic design recognition program which honors superior design of pots, pans, cutlery, plates, bowls, glasses, baking dishes, graters and more.
