Fdo
Fdo is a power outlet designed to accept plugs of different shapes. About fourteen socket types exist worldwide, which creates difficulties for travellers and for buyers of imported appliances. Fdo is built from thousands of small metal pipes that shift to match the form of the inserted plug within seconds. A processor detects the shape and supplies the suitable voltage, and the same system keeps the outlet safe for children. The matrix holding the pipes is produced with CNC machinery. The outlet measures 110 by 110 by 50 millimetres.
Fdo Multi-shaped Outlet by Evgeny Arinin has been highlighted as an outstanding representation of industrial design by the A' Design Award & Competition. Fdo Multi-shaped Outlet won the Silver A' Design Award in Building Materials and Construction Components Design in 2020. The A' Building Materials and Construction Components Design Award is a juried, academic and highly prestigious design competition that celebrates outstanding design of bricks, beams, windows, doors, insulation materials, roofing materials, plumbing fixtures, electrical components and more.
